To rent, you need to provide a card as a guarantee at pick-up. How it works depends on the type of card:
With a credit card: no deposit. We don't hold or block any amount. Your card is registered as a means of payment in case there's any justified charge during the rental, but we don't tie up your money. This is one of the advantages of renting with us: forget about having hundreds of euros held during your holiday.
With a debit card: €350 deposit. We hold a security deposit of €350 when you pick up the car. It's a hold, not a charge: that money is frozen during the rental.
When you return the car, we check that it's handed back in line with the contract terms and, if everything is in order, we release the deposit within 24 to 72 working hours. We don't hold your money any longer than necessary: as soon as we verify the return, the deposit goes back to your account. From there, how long it takes to show up depends on your bank.
The guarantee card doesn't have to belong to the driver, but the cardholder must be present at pick-up. In other words, the rental can be paid for and guaranteed by someone other than the person who will drive, as long as they're present when the car is picked up.
If a justified charge is detected when you return the car (special cleaning or missing fuel, for example), it's deducted from the deposit or charged to the registered card. If the charge exceeds the deposit amount, we let you know the difference and the reason before applying it. We always inform you of any charge, with its justification.
